Technorati and Bloglines, Blog Feeding
I ‘m not talking about a slice of Pizza and a soda for your blog. I’m talking about making your blog available to some of the biggest blog content providers (social bookmarking, blog farms, aggregators, etc) around. I will discuss two places, Technorati and Bloglines, to register your blog or blog’s feed so you can get tons of free traffic. Take 5 minutes to register at each of these sites and you will see more traffic (if your writing is good!).
Technorati
Technorati tracks over 112 million blogs and over 250 million pieces of tagged social media. You must register with Technorati then “claim” your blog. To claim your blog you will have to place a generated code into one of your blogs and have the Technorati spiders locate it. One you have been verified you will have to give a short title and description of you blog. Once that is accomplished your blog will show up in your account with some key stats and details. You can claim as many blogs as you wish.
Your blog posts will feed into Technorati.com and people will find your blog through searching keywords or becoming a fan. Technorati has something similar to Google Page Rank called Authority. Technorati weighs your blog based on how many other blogs (not websites, blogs!) are linking to your site. This authority is factored into the Technorati search. The more authority the better chance your blog will be found on the site.
There are many sites like Technorati out there. They have similar steps in claiming your blog, but typically only take a few minutes. I recommend taking some time to register will all of these and you should notice some nice traffic in the future if your blog is truly worth the read. If you have some suggestions please post a comment!
Bloglines
Bloglines is a news aggregator or a simpler version of Technorati. It simply takes your feed and makes it available to readers. There is no authority rank.
From their site:
“Bloglines is a FREE online service for searching, subscribing, creating and sharing news feeds, blogs and rich web content.”
Register and claim your blog to have your feed shared with the blogline’s user base.
While there are dozens of other ways to feed your blog these are the two popular ones that I know of.
If you have some good ones share!
